Today You Need to:

Today's Lesson: The IBC Writing Strategy

2.  Today we will continue using IXL for ELA.  You should have already completed the diagnostic test. 

• New Students: You need to Choose the diagnostic tile and work on ELA diagnostic test
• This week you will be working in another part of IXL.  Click here to access directions for IXL recommendation work. 
• Choose a skill from the recommendations and work 15 minutes in IXL today.

3. Watch a writing process teachlet. (Links to an external site.) 

4. Review our Middle Ages Writing Assignment & dissect the writing prompt.   

To complete this assignment, you will need:

• A copy of The Whipping Boy  (Chapters1-4)Download The Whipping Bo "Middle Ages"

2. Support your answer with examples from the text we have read in this unit.

Medieval Writing Assignment Rubric 

Due Friday, 10/1/21

Unit Goal:  

• Students read literary and informational texts to understand the class system of the Middle Ages through the fictional tale of two unlikely friends, Price Brat and his whipping boy. Students express their understanding by synthesizing the knowledge they gained about the history of the Middle Ages to study how the actions and changes in characters affect the events in a text and the development of a theme.

Objectives: 

• Build knowledge of the Middle Ages through research. 
• Read, discuss, and write about texts. 
• Write a response that analyzes events and characteristics to determine the theme of this novel.
  • Don't miss Live Sessions so that you can successfully meet these objectives.
